How can I recognize SUD?

Substance use disorders could present in many different ways. Anytime you feel you must use a substance to function and manage stress in relationships or are struggling to fulfill major life obligations, there’s a problem. Our providers use evidence based techniques to treat and diagnose substance use disorders.

How can I get a copy of my medical records?

You can contact our clinics for more information on obtaining secure medical records. Phone: + 1 253-200-0300

SUD is a chronic disease but it can be treated and you can fully recover.

Addiction is a complex but treatable disease that affects brain function and behavior. Poor mental health and the emotions associated with one’s substance use can feel awkward, even terrifying to discuss. Effective treatment attends to multiple needs of the individual—physical, mental and social health.

We welcome walk-ins and referrals from our community partners like County Jails , Needle Exchange Programs, Emergency Rooms, and Primary Care Clinics. We do not deny service to anyone based on their ability to pay. Discounts are available according to family size and income. A discounted, sliding fee schedule is available to all our patients.

steps to recovery

Your journey to recovery begins by calling 253-200-0300 or walking into any one of our four clinics. We immediately set an appointment with one of our apt providers for the same day (when available). We offer virtual visits as well.

After gathering patient history, we perform a physical exam and drug screen to create a recovery plan based on your specific challenges. All patients begin with MAT (Medication-Assisted Treatment) and schedule medication pickup for the next day at our in-house pharmacy. Drug use during treatment is closely monitored, as lapses during treatment do occur.

An ASAM evaluation determines next steps of our integrated treatment plan including visits with chemical dependency and mental health counselors, as well as a recovery coach.

Medically assisted detoxification is only the first stage of addiction treatment and by itself does little to change long-term substance use disorder. Medications are an important element of treatment for many patients, especially when combined with counseling and other behavioral therapies.

Stabilization involves cessation of your former substance with the goal of taking only the MAT medication you have been prescribed.

Remaining in treatment for an adequate period of time is critical.

Many individuals with SUD experience mental health disorders. They may also suffer from Hepatitis B (HBV) and hepatitis C (HCV) infections transmitted through needles used to inject drugs. If left untreated, hepatitis can lead to a progressive deterioration and malfunction of the liver or liver cancer.

NWIH attends to SUD patients’ chemical, biological, psychological, and social states by providing medications, talk therapy, peer counseling, primary care, wound care, and Hepatitis C treatment.

Treatment and services plan are continually assessed and modified to ensure they meet your changing needs. We make sure you don’t just stay “clean” but embark on the road to recovery.

Our providers make sure they get you through it.

“The days when I was emotional and crying, they were there to put a hand on my shoulder and say, hey, you’re alright, you’re gonna get through it, here’s a tissue, c’mon dry it up. that’s what’s needed in some of these programs, those moments to acknowledge the feeling, to accept the feeling, and to move on from the feeling, and to have a person next to you, especially clinal staff where they’re not just pushing you aside. That’s what keeps you engaged with the program, that’s what helps you get here on days when its sunny out and you don’t feel like coming. ‘Cause you wanna see the staff who held you up.” ~ A hopeful patient.

Northwest Integrated Health will set you on the right path to recovery.
